5 Step Checklist For Your Job Search

Searching for a job can be a daunting process but if you have a game plan in place it can be a piece of cake to navigate. Getting stuck in a dead-end job is not where anyone wants to be, implement these suggestion today and you'll be on your feet in no time!

Here's a checklist to keep on hand as you begin the process:

1) Establish a Self Assessment to determine your focus and strategy. Write down your strengths, weaknesses, favorite jobs you've had in the past, common characteristics that others use when describing you, your ideal work environment, your desired salary, and where you would like to be in 5 years. If you need help with this, Career Coaching is an ideal option in helping get focused on your assessment. (Unstoppable Communications offers help with all of this)

2) Get your resume in order. It's as simple as that. You have to have a good resume in order to pass Applicant Tracking Systems and capture the attention of the hiring manager. Make sure you have all of the pertinent information as well as accomplishments listed on the resume.

3) Join Facebook Groups in your area where people are routinely posting about vacant job openings. Often times these groups have insider info of jobs not posted to the public. Employees who have insider info will post to these groups before openings have gone external. If you are in the Oklahoma area and aren't a part of the Working In OKC group, join now.

4) Set up searches on job boards of your industry/interests and have new job listings emailed to you. Let this automated process do the job for you. You will thank yourself later when you get too busy to hunt.

5) Network, Network, Network. Don't be shy in looking for a job. Be strategic. Tell others that might be able to help you. If you are job hunting while employed, obviously don't blast this out on your Facebook. But create the post and then limit the audience to the people that could be of help to you. Verbalize your job search to others in conversation who you don't regularly come into contact with on a daily basis.

Example: at the check out stand when they ask how is your day, when getting your hair cut and casual chatting (you would be surprised who is listening and might be hiring), at your friend's wedding etc.....

Embarking on a job search is not just something you decide to do overnight. It is a big deal. It takes a strategy to get to the top. Unstoppable Communications has a proven track record of helping clients implement all of these techniques in order to be successful in their journey!
